SMARTNET SILICA® Smart net Silica ® is patented top technology. The unique formula of this compound, which has been developed over the years from the experience in motorsport, offers cyclists a riding experience without compromise: low rolling resistance with optimum wet grip, maximum grip despite high running performance, high puncture protection despite low weight. The unique silica particles - elongated instead of spherical - guarantee an extremely low rolling resistance by forming themselves in the longitudinal direction instead of forming a chaotic structure. FGD – FUNCTIONAL GROOVE DESIGN Tire profile reinvented. Supplies what you need when you need it. To fine-tune the tire profiles of P Zero ™ and P Zero ™ Velo 4S (the TT model is a pure slick), Pirelli used the motorsport-inspired groove design. The profile pattern, which has not only an aesthetic function, is based on the Diablo Supercorsa, one of the best SSP tires (SuperSport class of the World SuperBike race series) by Pirelli. The angles, cross-sections and distances of the tread pattern have been carefully examined to optimize their performance in water drainage, dry and wet adhesion, riding performance, reaction behavior as well as driving comfort and handling. The tire profile is reminiscent of flashes and forms very acute angles in the middle of the tread with pronounced lateral openings on the sides for optimized water drainage and smooth rolling behavior as well as wearing. In addition, the tire profile has progressive depth for improved durability and optimum control even in extreme cornering. The tread of the P Zero ™ Velo is made up of three different sections: the center consists of a smooth surface for optimum straight-line running, on both sides of the tread are more pronounced areas for optimum curve behavior, which pass into semi-slick edges for immediate feedback at the limit cornering. The result is optimal tire contact under all riding conditions.
ICS – IDEAL CONTOUR SHAPING Thanks to the tire contour you get a better handling and curve behaviour. Pirelli used the ICS (Ideal Contour Shaping) technology to optimize the contour and build-up of the new P Zero ™ cycling tires. The use of CAD software with consistent use of the scientific finite element method (FEM) was used to optimize the design parameters for the tire contour and to simulate performance . Thus, the P Zero ™ bicycle tires offer the optimal synthesis of grip, driving stability, as well as reaction and control behavior in the different riding situations (straights, slopes and curves).
